Hollywood director Tim Burton paid a flying visit to New Westminster yesterday to film scenes for his upcoming Big Eyes Movie.
Tim Burton is in town to film his latest movie, which is a low budget biographical movie about Margaret and Walter Keane who were well known in the ’50s and ’60s for producing pictures of children with big eyes.
Margaret would paint the pictures, but Walter would sign them and claim the works as his own. Filming started on the movie on July 8 in an apartment on Bute Street which is being used as Margaret Keane’s home, before moving on to East Georgia street in Vancouver, which is where Walter’s apartment is situated. Thursday’s filming however was on 6th Street in New Westminster, just off of Columbia Street. They were using the side entrance to the New Westminster Police Department building as a San Fransciso Police Department building from the era. Waltz and Adams both exit the building together and proceed to walk up the steep hill that is 6th Street exchanging dialogue.
