Season three of The Killing will focus on a new case which will be resolved over the course of 12 episodes. The season begins one year after the close of the Rosie Larsen case, with Sarah Linden no longer working as a Seattle homicide detective.

But when her ex-partner Stephen Holder’s search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a gruesome string of murders that may connect to a previous murder investigated by Linden, she is drawn back into the life she thought she’d left behind.

The new season, which stars Mireille Enos (Sarah Linden) and Joel Kinnaman (Stephen Holder) along with new cast members Peter Sarsgaard, Elias Koteas and Amy Seimetz, will focus on a new case, which will be resolved over the course of ten episodes, ending with a gripping two-hour finale.

Season 3 begins one year after the close of the “Rosie Larsen” case (the focus of the series’ first two seasons) with Sarah Linden (Enos) no longer working as a detective. But when her ex-partner Stephen Holder’s (Kinnaman) search for a runaway girl leads him to discover a gruesome string of murders that connects to a previous murder investigation by Linden, she is drawn back into the life she thought she’d left behind.

The Killing’s third season airs on June 2. AMC have released this promo to give us a taste of what’s to come.

Peter Sarsgaard plays Ray Seward, a death row inmate that Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) put away. This was the case that put Sarah Linden in a psych ward because of the trauma she suffered. Season three of the killing finds Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman) asking a now retired Linden for her help in solving a case that forces her to confront her past again. There’s a serial killer on the loose who’s praying on street kids and they must find him before he kills again.

The poster for season three of the Killing has been released by AMC and it depicts a tally count of 17 victims.

Linda Schupack, AMC’s executive vp of marketing said “We wanted the ad to be graphic and bold and stylish. The story is about a serial killer, but at the same time we also wanted to capture the humanity of the story — which I think sets it apart from other cop dramas. You really feel for the characters, particularly the victims.”

The crew of The Killing were once again in New Westminster yesterday to film some interior and exterior scenes with Joel Kinnaman.

The day started out beautifully but quickly turned to rain in the afternoon so the team didn’t have to use any rain towers for their exterior shots to represent a rainy Seattle.

The Killing have been known to use rain in the show, but on Friday April 5th, there was no need for the rain towers that they had on set.

They did use them during the day though to enhance the already available for free rain that was coming down.
