Fifty Shades of Grey have been filming in Vancouver for about a month now and I am yet to visit any of their sets. It’s not that I don’t want to go, I’ve just been busy with other things.
They have been at UBC for the last two days and are due to be back there tomorrow to film scenes of Washington State University – Vancouver student Ana’s graduation ceremony.
The setting for this event is UBC’s Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. For those of you who haven’t seen inside the auditorium there, let me tell you. It’s quite a sight to behold. It is the ideal location for the speech that Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan) gives to those present about hunger and poverty issues.
The scenes that have been filmed at UBC have been mainly interiors with a quick scene being filmed outside of Ana (Dakota Johnson) and her bug yesterday. Security is pretty tight on this movie for some reason. Much more than I’ve seen on other sets. Some have said that the added security is because of Jamie Dornan’s new arrival. He and his wife welcomed a baby girl at the end of November into their family.
Let’s hop that tomorrow brings us some better luck and a chance to see some of the outside filming.
