Once Upon a Time at Community Hall, Fort Langley

Posted by

Yesterday I posted a small snippet of pictures that I took whilst on the set of Once Upon a Time at the Community Hall in Fort Langley.

I’ll post about what I saw being filmed and what I think was going on, but if you don’t want to know you should stop reading now.
This post will contain spoilers I guess.

I will at some point clarify VCF’s position on spoilers, but today is not that day.

I arrived in Fort Langley around lunch time to find that filming had already gotten under way. I was surprised as to how small the town actually was. I have never been there before and thought that the Storybrooke Town Hall, played by Fort Langley Community Hall, was much further away from the street than it actually is. Fort Langley is a great little town by the way, and if you ever come to Vancouver for a OUAT locations visit, this is a must for your trip.

Storybrooke Town Hall

The cast that I saw on set yesterday were Josh Dallas, Ginnifer Goodwin, Jennifer Morrison, Jared Gilmore, Tony Amendola, Keegan Connor Tracy, Michael Raymond-James, Eion Bailey, Sonequa Martin-Green and Jakob Davies. You’re probably familiar with all those names, but just incase you’re not, they play, David Nolan (Charming), Mary Margaret (Snow White), Emma Swan, Henry Mills, Marco (Geppetto), Mother Superior (Blue Fairy), Neal Cassidy, August Wayne Booth, Tamara and Pinocchio.

But wait I hear you say! Aren’t August Wayne Booth and Pinocchio the same person?
Yes, indeed they are.

Eion Bailey
Jakob Davies

The scene I witnessed yesterday had Eion Bailey with a green SFX hood on and motion capture dots on his face. The scene involved him lying on the ground in front of Storybrooke Town Hall whilst Jennifer Morrison, Jared Gilmore, Josh Dallas, Ginnifer Goodwin, Sonequa Martin-Green and Michael Raymond-James all look on. Tony Amendola is embracing Eion and Keegan Connor Tracy comes running up to them with her wand in hand.

There’s a bit of dialogue between then, then the action is cut and all the actors keep their places except for Eion, who trades places with Jakob Davies. Then filming resumes.
It was a pretty long scene lasting about 3 minutes.

I have to say, Tony Amendola looked really sad and upset and needed time to himself after the scene. Does August Wayne Booth revert to being the child Pinocchio by use of the Blue Fairy’s magic wand? The episode being filmed was episode 218 – “Selfless, Brave and True”, and the Blue Fairy told young Pinocchio that if he was “Brave, Truthful and Unselfish” he would always remain a real boy.

Security was pretty relaxed at the shoot, mainly because Rick was dealing with an unwanted guest I guess. But a PA did come up to me and tell me that I wasn’t allowed to take pictures of them filming. When I inquired why, he told me because it was illegal. I have to say, I laughed at this point. I’ve been to plenty of sets and have had advice from others that I am indeed allowed to take any pictures that I want. After all, I was on a public sidewalk and was only taking pictures in between takes as I always try and do when on OUAT sets. Rick then came over to me laughing as the PA had spoken to him about me taking pictures.

Anyhow, back to the scene… I’m confused as to why the writers have, if indeed this is what will happen, decided to kill Eion Bailey off. They’re not killing the character off, just the actor who plays the older version. Is this so that Marco can have time with his son possibly. He has missed out on 28 years.

Or, perhaps they bought Eion back just to film these few scenes because the show’s creators had read about a crew member saying that he didn’t get on with the others and wanted to quash those rumours?
I guess we’ll never get to know the real reasons behind anything that the writers and creators decide to do. Another theory I have read is that they don’t want to get more negative mail and messages like they got when they killed off Sheriff Graham.

Changing adults to children opens a whole new can of worms for the show and I’ll certainly be keeping my eyes open for Dylan Schmid, who plays the young Baelfire.

Here’s what you’ve all been waiting for, a gallery of pictures from yesterday’s filming. Don’t forget that you can discuss Once Upon a Time on our new forums.

Wow. That’s quite a theory/spoiler. I love August, so I’m hoping that’s not the case. That would be quite weird to have to revert back to being a child again.
    I wonder who Tamara is.
Once again, thanks for the pics! I love the creamery sign.

I sure want young Bae, loved the actor! However, I love both Pinocchios and don’t want to see just one. Let’s see what happens, then. This episode will be quite a ride.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Not this again, If august dead, I’m so done with this show!

Thats pretty ridiculous that you were told it’s illegal, I mean lots of people take photos of filming going on and with the amount this site already has on Once. I dunno about the US or Canada but in the UK you don’t need permission to film or take photos of anything in an outside location.

It does seem strange if August is going to be a kid again, I wonder if he will be happy or angry about it.

What?I hope that theory isn’t true!I love Eion Bailey!Guess we’ll have to wait and see when the episode airs!

since they’ve hinted emotional turmoil for Emma and a delay to her happily ever after…I’m pretty sure Tamara is Neal’s current girlfriend/wife. It has, after all, been 11 years since him and Emma were together.

I for one would feel bad for Emma if Neal is suppose to be her happy ending. MJR and JM have no chemistry, and there characters ‘tragic love story’ seems more like a case of older guy manipulating a young girl. Swan Queen and Swan Hook at least make look competent and smart. All Swan Thief does is turn Emma into an annoying ‘ Bella Swan’ type who likes being used and treated like an attachment rather then the kick ads independent and snarky woman from season 1.

Really disappointed and angry for how they’re TOTALLY DELETING August’s character. This is not even wrapping up is story!!!!! After Regina he was my favourite and I’M PISSED OFF cause this is such A LAME way to get rid of him and it’s an example of how POOR and SILLY THE WRITING of the show has been in season two. If he actually gets turned back into a kid I’ll quit watching cause a show that builds up so much a character just to suddenly delete his story completely out of the plot it’s disgusting! And btw this is not how REDEEMING SOMEONE works cause you can have redemption only out of AWARENESS which comes from REMEMBERING and AKNOWLEDGING your past mistakes… but u can’t do that if you’re memories are deleted!!!

It would be really sad to see Eion go but if it’s good for his career and he decided on it then I won’t hold it against them. Can’t wait to see him succeed on his new show.

  9. Doc says:

I don’t mind it as long as they tie up ALL of his loose ends completely. That would mean revealing the Blue Fairy as his go between the entire time. August has already told us that it was the Blue Fairy that told him about Rumple and his Dagger. So she must be the one to have told him who Baelfire was before he and Neal met 11yrs ago. This would also mean that the Blue Fairy has had her memories the entire time as well, and was probably the one who kept track of Emma and Henry’s birth (seemingly as Gold would not have any memories for another 10yrs yet) and used August to steer the infant Henry towards Storybrooke and Regina, even though we’re to understand that Gold was responsible for procuring Henry…. how? w/o a memory or ability to leave Storybrooke 11 yrs ago?…. Also revealing the Blue Fairy as the probable author of Henry’s Book, which found it’s way to Henry a whole month before Gold regains his own memories.

Anyway, the KANSAS plate on the Bike!… OZ connection or not? Tie it up! Please, YES or NO?…or just a Walt Disney nod to his home state?

One last point: We see Tamara in Storybrooke (above) watching August being magically turned back into a little boy. Really?…. With all of the concern of regular humans in Storybrooke, why would it be “OK” for Tamara to be there?… Is she a FTL character? I hope not because Neal told Emma that if he knew who or what she was he would have run the other way. So now he’s hooked up with another FTL character? What are the chances of that happening?…… So then she’s a normal human IN Storybrooke? Either way he’s screwed with that move, bringing her to Storybrooke? wow….
