Save BC Film

Posted by

A petition has been started to help save the BC Film Industry over on the Avaaz Community Petitions website.

Every fan of hit TV Shows like Fringe, Arrow, Once Upon a Time, Supernatural and Continuum should head over there right now and sign the petition.

The creator of the petition, Dan M. has the following to say:

Vancouver’s ability to remain a competitive film market relies heavily on the support of the provincial government and their enthusiasm for maintaining an attractive taxation scheme. With a strong Canadian dollar, this is the only way to ensure and build upon the long-term success that has been established.

Recognizing this has prompted other provinces, like Ontario, to initiate attractive incentives that are proving successful, and reflected in their increased productions.

We need your support. Without it, you jeopardize not only our industry standards, but our live hoods as well leaving many of us with no alternative but to draw upon social programs like employment insurance and welfare.

Dan hopes to get 10,000 signatures, but I know that with all of your help, we can get many many more. The petition will be delivered to Gregor Robinson and Christy Clark so if you can spare a couple of minutes, head on over and sign it.
