Shannyn Sossamon Cast in Vancouver Filmmakers’ Short Film Limina to be Filmed in Switzerland
Shannyn Sossamon has been cast in Florian Halbedl and Joshua M. Ferguson’s short film Limina.
Sossamon, known for her roles in A Knight’s Tale, 40 Days and 40 Nights and The Rules of Attraction and whose most recent roles include HBO’s How to Make it in America, FOX’s event series Wayward Pines and this summer’s horror sequel Sinister 2, will play a woman in a small picturesque town whose mourning process is influenced by a curious gender-fluid child.
The independent Vancouver-based filmmakers, under their Turbid Lake Pictures banner, will co-direct and produce Limina. Ferguson and Halbedl recently produced the award-winning Whispers of Life, a short film that screened at twenty-one film festivals and received a Directors Guild of Canada 2014 nomination for Best Short Film.
“After I read Limina, I was deeply moved by the beauty and innocence of this important tale about Being Human. Florian and Joshua want to show us this in the purest way possible – through the eyes of a Child. A child who is following their spirits’ truth from a place of innocence. As a mother and as an actress, I am incredibly honored to have been asked to help them tell this short story,” says Sossamon.
“Shannyn’s beautiful depth as an actor parallels with our creative intent as co-directors to showcase unique and diverse talent in Limina. Her experience and breadth as a performer will enrich Limina’s magical story to create a foundation of excellence for the rest of our cast,” says Ferguson.
Limina, an original script written by Halbedl, is about a curious gender-fluid child who embarks on a path of kindness in a small and magical village. A portion of the film’s budget is currently being raised via crowdfunding on Indiegogo with over 50% of the budget already raised and 7 days of the campaign to go (www.liminafilm.com).
Limina will be shot in the Ticino region of Switzerland with the help of the Ticino Film Commission who is already on board and assisting with the production.
