It’s not often that I am moved by Twitter, but today that happened. I was at the Once Upon a Time shoot last night in Steveston to see Robert Carlyle and Emilie De Ravin film even more scenes outside, and inside Mr. Gold’s store having previously been there in the afternoon watching them same two actors film. I had to leave the set due to family circumstances or I would have been there for the whole shoot. I am that much of a Once Upon a Time geek.
There were a few familiar faces in the small crowd of diehard fans there watching when I got back at around 6.30pm. People who I have been standing with on set a few times throught the summer. I’ve even gotten to know one or two of them. Last night was no different. That is until I got home and saw that one of the people who was there has tweeted this message:
It was disappointing to read to say the least. I’m not annoyed or angry about it. Why would I be? Everyone has a right to an opinion, right? The thing that has annoyed me though, is that this individual did get photo ops with both Emilie De Ravin and Robert Carlyle. She even delayed Emilie from going back to set in the process. To say that I had ruined that opportunity for her is absurd. This is also coming from the girl who bought a camping chair with her to the set whilst they were filming in Steveston and in the Forrest over the summer and would disrupt filming by shouting at the actors.
There is however, a happy ending to this story. I had noticed an increased amount of “thank you for your pictures” type of posts in my Twitter stream today. I did my usual thing of thanking one or two of the posters. That was until I found out that Storybrooke Mirror had posted this message on their Tumblr.
I don’t know if this is in response to what Colleen Bradford had posted, but this has both moved and humbled me. I wish I could thank each and every one of you personally for your kind messages. It’s not often that I am lost for words, but this selfless act of kindness has managed to do that to me. If you ask my wife, she’ll tell you that it’s sometimes difficult to get me to shut up, so it’s quite an achievement.
I do what I do because I love watching film crews work their magic. Whether it be on a film set or TV Show set. Once Upon a Time is special though. I am a huge fan of the show. There’s no motive behind me taking pictures. I do it simply because I love doing it.
Once again, thank you one and all for your support and kind words. I’ll post the two pictures that I took last night shortly. Isn’t it weird that I would stand out in the wet and cold to only take two pictures. I’m pretty sure that other fans took many more pictures than I did last night. There were plenty of opportunities for me to do so too, but I respectfully chose not to.
